Sasha Allen was the only transgender openly performing artist to have completed the Battle Rounds of The Voice Live Shows. This has been the situation for 21 seasons. Newtown's duo, Jim and Sasha Allen are now in the Top 8 within the 21-year history of The Voice Live Shows! Sasha confessed that he's transgender when they were preparing their entry to participate in the Blind Auditions, and he admitted to Parade.com that it was a decision that required thought and careful consideration. "That was a really hard decision to make because you're showing a personal and vulnerable aspect of yourself to millions and billions of individuals," said Sasha, who was transgender while in high school. The support of the fans and the impact that this affected people even though the decision was hard to make is what convinced Sasha that this transition was worthwhile. "We played it before The Voice was even a event in our lives. It was quite a surprise. We knew the song, and already knew, and we had many plans to put it together. "I was surprised by the way that fans executed the tune."
